SPEEDROT (“we”, “us”) runs the SPEEDROT game at speedrot.com. This policy explains what information we collect when you play, why, and the choices you have. Questions: support@speedrot.com.

Playing as a guest

You can play without an account. Your progress, settings and games are saved in your browser's storage on your device, not on our servers. Your device gets a random player ID and a random handle; neither identifies you.

What we collect

Scores you submit. When you finish a Daily Run or a Royale, we receive your player ID, handle, brain skin and title, and a recording of your inputs so our server can check the score. Daily leaderboards are kept for 15 days and Royale results for about two hours.
Games you post. When you post a game to the Scroll, we store the game, your handle and your player ID, plus its likes, plays and reports.
Likes, plays and reports. We store which player ID liked or reported a game, so each counts once.
ROT AI requests. When you use ROT AI, we send your sentence, theme or a summary of your run (scores and game titles, never your identity) to our AI service provider to generate a response. We check text before sending it.
Accounts. If you create an account, we store your email address, your handle, when you joined, a confirmation that you are 13 or older, and your saved progress. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider and are never visible to us.
Technical data. Like every website, our servers see your IP address and browser type. We use them to run the service, prevent abuse and set rate limits. Addresses used for abuse limits are stored only as one-way hashes and expire within two days; our hosting provider keeps standard request logs for about 30 days.

What we do not do

We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not show ads and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We do not use cookies at all for guests; accounts use your browser's storage to keep you signed in.

Who processes data for us

We use Google Cloud and Firebase (Google LLC) to host the site, run our servers, store data and handle sign-in, and an AI service provider to power ROT AI. They process data only on our instructions. Data is stored and processed in the United States.

Children

SPEEDROT is made for players 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and accounts require confirming an age of 13 or older. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

Guest data can be deleted at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Account data can be downloaded or deleted from the Me tab, or by email.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port your data, and to object to or restrict processing. Email support@speedrot.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Access is limited to the people and systems that need it, and administrative access requires two-step verification.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the game.
